Spring Flag Football

SPRING FLAG FOOTBALL

Overview

Spring Flag football is designed for the rec-sport athlete to have one day of activity for a period of 8 weeks following Avon's Spring break. The games will be played Sunday afternoon only, and no practice is scheduled. The intent for the program is to provide additional recreational activity for the kids of Avon and surrounding areas by encouraging them to "Play 60" every day.

Team Selection

Teams will be selected by the Spring Flag Football Commissioner, with the help of other leaders involved with programs through AJAA. No evaluations are required, and teams will be balanced based on known historical performance and most importantly by parents input to understand the abilities of our players. Those children who participate in elite sports programs in the spring may not be eligible based on registration numbers, as many of these children will have prior commitments that may hinder their team from having enough players to field a team consistently. Teams will be selected the first week of Avon Schools Spring Break, and communication will be sent by the last week of Spring Break.

Age Requirements

This program is open to all children ages 5-17 as of the beginning of the current school year. (July 27, 2017)  Teams will be comprised of 8 children per team, where five rotate into play at all times. There will be up to 6 leagues with up to 8 teams per league. Leagues prospectively will be: Ages 5-7 co-ed, Ages 8-11 coed, Ages 12-14 girls, Ages 12-14 boys, Ages 15-17 girls, and Ages 15-17 boys. This is year four of Spring NFL Flag Football for AJAA, so please understand that leagues may be altered based on the number of registrations per age group.
