AJAA Membership Update

Over the past six months, the Avon Junior Athletic Association has worked to develop a strategic plan to guide the organization and the growing community we serve into the future.  Based upon member input, we have developed the following  Mission and Strategic Imperatives to guide the organization.

AJAA Mission:

AJAA provides outstanding opportunities for Avon community youth to develop physically while encouraging growth in teamwork, effort, sportsmanship and character by offering diverse and high-quality athletic programming and instruction within a single organization.

Strategic Imperatives

  • Engage and develop a broad and diverse volunteer base.
  • Communicate the value of AJAA to members and stakeholders.
  • Assess needs and Increase financial support for AJAA human (staff) and capital (property and equipment) assets.
  • Establish clear and accountable metrics for AJAA sports programs and monitor customer satisfaction.
  • Engage and collaborate with local government and schools.
  • Anticipate and meet customer needs through AJAA programming.

The next step is to effectively execute on our plan.  In order to do this we need your help.   The following are the committees that have been developed to address and put into action the various strategic imperatives set forth from the AJAA Executive Committee.

Community Relations

Karen Falkner

  • Meets to construct and plan ideas that foster stronger outreach to both members and non-members in the community
  • Engage and collaborate with local government and schools
  • Engage and develop a broad and diverse volunteer base.

Buildings & Grounds

Fyzal Ohab

  • Engage and develop a broad and diverse volunteer base.
  • Communicate the value of AJAA to members and stakeholders
  • Set goals and plans for cosmetic improvements; work with Contributions Committee to address needs
  • Responsibility for maintenance of grounds, buildings and equipment
  • Assess needs and Increase financial support for AJAA human (staff) and capital (property and equipment) assets

Sports & Program Development

Steve Brodasky

  • Establish clear and accountable metrics for AJAA sports programs and monitor customer satisfaction
  • Anticipate and meet customer needs through AJAA programming
  • Communicate the value of AJAA to members and stakeholders

 

If you are interested in playing a larger role in developing the focus and actions for the future of AJAA by serving on an action committee, please email John Demerly by October 7th, 2011 at jademerly@dow.com.  As a committee member, you will have the opportunity to play an active role in putting into action our strategic plan by initially taking part in our upcoming planning retreat on Sunday, October 16, 2011.
